As part of its commitment to creating meaningful social impact, IndianOil Petronas Private Limited has extended its support to Autism Society West Bengal by contributing ₹9,13,480 under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme to upgrade the organization's digital learning infrastructure.
Supporting an Organization Dedicated to Autism Inclusion
Established in 2002, Autism Society West Bengal (ASWB) is a parent-initiated organization working towards creating an inclusive society where individuals with autism are accepted, respected, and empowered. The organization strives to ensure that people on the autism spectrum are welcomed in education, healthcare, employment, and social life, while promoting greater awareness and understanding of autism spectrum disorders.
ASWB has also played an important role in shaping disability rights in India by participating in civil consultations during the formulation of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016.
Empowering Through Technology
With IPPL's CSR support, ASWB has upgraded its computer laboratory with:
- 🖥️ 4 Desktop Computers
- 💻 8 Laptop Computers
- 📺 2 Smart Boards
The modernized digital learning facility will significantly enhance the educational and vocational training opportunities available to children, adolescents, and adults associated with the organization.
Enhancing Learning and Skill Development
The upgraded computer lab will directly benefit students enrolled in Dikshan and Aarohan, ASWB's educational and pre-vocational programmes.
Aarohan, ASWB's pre-vocational training centre, prepares adolescents and young adults with autism for greater independence and future employment. Participants receive structured training in work habits such as discipline, responsibility, and routine management before progressing to vocational skill development.
The programme includes training in:
- Bakery and food preparation
- Handicrafts and creative arts
- Communication and social interaction
- Independent living skills
The new computer lab will further strengthen these programmes by introducing digital learning, communication tools, and technology-assisted skill development.
Building Employability and Professional Capacity
Beyond supporting students, the upgraded facility will also benefit adults participating in Empower Ability and Soft Skill Development Programmes, helping them develop:
- Digital literacy
- Workplace communication
- Professional behaviour
- Employment readiness skills
Additionally, the computer lab will serve as a valuable resource for D.Ed. trainees, teachers, therapists, and professionals at ASWB by supporting training, lesson planning, documentation, and capacity-building initiatives.
Creating Inclusive Opportunities
Through this CSR initiative, IPPL reaffirms its commitment to empowering communities through education, technology, and inclusion. By supporting organizations like Autism Society West Bengal, IPPL aims to create opportunities that foster independence, dignity, and lifelong learning for individuals on the autism spectrum.
This initiative reflects IPPL's belief that technology can be a powerful enabler of inclusion, helping every individual unlock their potential and participate meaningfully in society.
